Welcome to ActivityHero‘s Friday Family LinkFest, where we share useful, thought-provoking, and just plain exceptional family blogs posts from around the blogosphere.
Everyone is talking about Valentine’s Day this week, not necessarily because we want to blog about it, but because kids love it!
In fact, children, with their innocence and openness, have a funny way of surprising their parents with the true meaning of Valentine’s Day – behind all the cards and candy.
Check out how Jenna’s son banished her Valentine’s Grinch over on Stop, Drop and Blog in Melt My Cold, Black Heart.
Kids Activities for Valentine’s Day
Over at Laura’s Mommy Journal, Laura got an unexpected Valentine’s Day present through her son’s eloquent (we’re talking eloquent in kid speak here) card for his brother. It makes you want to try having friendship letters around the house all the time.
And Kids Activities Blog had a great craft idea worth keeping around for next year – in more ways than one. Instead of helping your kids create Valentine’s cards, paint heart stones. Then when you want to keep your favorite Valentine from your child around for years, you can with worrying about it falling apart.
And On a Fun Note . . .
At Seven Seas of Rhye, Rhye found a totally different take on the “gift that lasts forever.” Because if diamonds are the forever gift for wives, why can’t cockroaches be the forever gift for husbands?
What did you do with your kids this Valentine’s Day?
Thank you for the link! Kids sure do have a way of melting Grinch hearts!
They really do offer a different perspective on all sorts of activities and holidays we feel jaded about, right?
Did you see Laura’s post about the “friendship cards”? The way that kids not only express, but really embrace the opportunity to express their love for their family on Valentine’s Day makes it seem like much more than a Hallmark holiday.
